Hi, I'm Cynthia
I’m so glad you’re here.
Words have always had a fascination for me, with their power to evoke memories and mental pictures of events, environments, and relationships, and to help us understand ourselves, our experiences, and one another. As both a writer and a therapist, I continue to broaden my respect for the strength of words to name our feelings, what we need and long for, and how we wish to be heard and understood.
I work with adults of all ages who are seeking support and growth, as well as greater understanding of their personal histories and the circumstances they are experiencing today.
We’ve all encountered books and stories where an unexpected plot twist, or several, caught us by surprise, changing what we were thinking and anticipating, causing us to re-evaluate and reimagine what’s ahead. Just when we believe we see what’s coming, we’re surprised and caught off guard. A lot like life. Sometimes the twists in our own stories are exciting, happy developments, and at other times, we may be disappointed, stunned and sad, angry and confused, thinking, ‘Wait a minute; this wasn’t supposed to happen. I didn’t choose and I don’t want this. What now?’
One thing certain about plot twists, they always spark our feelings. The stories we’ve held dear about our relationships, our careers, our goals, our health and golden years, perhaps, are not unfolding towards happily-ever-after after all. What now? Exactly. The writer David Whyte said, “Part of walking the path is losing the path.” Part of living our stories involves plot shifts, adapting our narratives. Let’s explore what’s next in your story, together.
My Story
I bring a reader and a writer’s creativity and insight to my work, and sometimes use metaphor and humor in our sessions. I respond with empathy to the emotions, longings, and needs emerging from this moment in my clients’ circumstances. I’m not a blank slate; instead, I join my clients wherever they are. As a daughter, a sister, friend, wife, mother, and caregiver to family members at all stages of life and health, I’ve been there.
I believe therapy is a process built on trust, respect, and genuine connection. My goal is to provide a safe, accepting and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your concerns, gain insight, and move toward greater well-being and fulfillment.

Training & Orientation
I earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Christian Theological Seminary in 2016. I have worked in private practice, on inpatient units in behavioral health settings, and as an outpatient counselor leading small and large therapy and psychoeducation groups. I was trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which emphasizes the role our significant early relationships and life experiences may play in what we find challenging today.

As a psychodynamic therapist, I welcome reflection on beliefs and perceptions related to your life experiences, relationships and attachments, how they shape who you know yourself to be. I provide a compassionate environment of listening and therapeutic support in which you can feel free to share and consider your unique life story, thoughts and feelings, completely welcome to be yourself and to share or not share whatever is on your heart and mind.

When we own the story we can write a brave new ending.
